On Saving the Jaguar

The Americas are home to the great jaguar (Panthera onca), the largest feline native to the continent and the third-largest in the world, after tigers and lions. Jaguars roam across 18 countries, ranging from northern Mexico to northern Argentina.

The jaguar faces formidable challenges that jeopardize its survival, these include habitat loss due to deforestation, fragmentation of landscapes, illegal wildlife trade, and conflicts with human activities.

In 2018, the world came together in New York to draft a Roadmap to help conserve the remaining jaguars that roam our ecosystem.
